Not sure if this has been suggested as the thread is huge and I had a long day but in the first few pages no one had suggested it
Has anyone thought of asking for a third option to be made available of PvP UAS?
This option would not give you access to any of the other parts of the game and you would not be able to use PvE characters at all.
They would have a seperate ladder that was purley for this option and everyone who was not in it for pure PvP would be able to carry on as normal.
maybe they could even make the guild system part of it so PVP UAS guilds would need to be made which had a minimum required number of players required to form ?
Like i said i havent read every post ( read a lot ) and if this has been suggested already then I apologise.
This to me seems like a more sensible option and as they did this in the beta weekends i would imagine it wouldnt be too hard to implement ( as far as implementing new areas of the game go ).

Faction is very quick if you play a gvg style like pank did which is horrible for the conditon of the ladder. It's utterly slow otherwise unless you're on a good team who steamrolls over scrubs in a couple minutes, ignoring that it takes forever to find a match unless you use smurf guilds.
Faction being for the casual player is a complete joke. Casual teams need to earn faction just for entering the map, because 9 times out of 10 they're going to get rolled by anyone worth their beans without killing a single person. Unlocking is the reason why the ladder is so stagnant; many low tier groups cannot even run a single decent team build properly.
In my last serious tombs run a few weeks ago with a mix of players from decent, middle-tier guilds while running a solid build, we made 4 runs, ended up with 3 hoh wins and it took, including the arderous process of group formation, about 2-3 hours. I didn't even earn 1k faction from that. Unlike many people out there going into tombs we were running a solid build and had decent players. Now how is the casual player supposed to unlock things if he missed the pre-nerf farming spots and can't acquire any reasonable amount of faction outside of getting a lucky team in arena (well over an hour for 1k faction there even with an organized team).

OK, so old folks won't come back. There's new folks out here that never played the game prior to release that like it and manage to have fun. Perhaps it's beneficial not knowing what was or wasn't in Beta, Alpha, etc.
Grab the newbies, start over, and go play!
Already did this, or tried to. With countless hours of effort over a month it failed miserably; out of 20some people we had 4 including myself that had the skills to play more than 1 class. Some people couldn't even play the single class that they had pved with effectively because they used their skill points on pve skills or just bad skills in general. It would take literally an hour to start our tombs runs because you'd have to keep switching people around or even abort the build you planned because I refused to settle for running bad stuff. We would win a few matches simply because we were organized, but the players in general were too bad that we could never make it past 4 maps without facing a decent team and losing. The amount of time/effort spent to organize these tombs runs was absurd due to bad unlocks; if people had been getting 5-10 more skills daily with just our hour or two runs we'd have lived, but as it stood it was simply too much work to get things running and then lose because of bad players.
I've seen the UAS metioned, but isolating them would add a whole level of complications and have a dividing effect on the game. There would be entire groups/games that my PvE could never work it's way into.
Interesting concept, yet would cause a whole new level of complaints.
MSecorsky: Word of mouth is better than marketing. When all the good players, who inevitably, have friends that are good players in other games start talking, they dont come to play either. Then it's just a playerbase full of newbs who hopefully will get better. But there are no more people incoming, it just gets stagnant. Which isn't good for a game that's supposedly big on PvP.
So they can keep grabbing newbs all they want. That wont mean much if they dont get a handfull of players that inspire people to want to play.
And let's not forget Arenanet will probably be trying to release another game some day. With all the bad mouthing going around about their ways of handling problems and listening to the players, it's gonna be tough.

not necessarily.
this game will go an absolute minimum of another year and a half before any possible thoughts of not putting out the 4th chapter.
dont forget NCSoft can afford to carry GW at a loss for some time to build player base and it is not just Anets assets keeping it going.
chapter 2 will add a large amount of content that will be sure to please their target audience which is not the ultra hard core dingbats or rabid pvp.
there will be a chapter 3 even if chapter 2 doesnt sell well at all.
a lot can happen in the next 9-10 months which can change the game in ways and directions we have no idea about today.
warts and all i am having fun and will take the coming changes (good and bad) knowing the game is just getting started
Our Guild HT basically is taking a break till the expansion. A few of us play regularly but some are avid PvPers and left for a while to make a raw PvP guild. which we supported. So I feel its fine that guilds are idle for a while. I like the guild concept more for keeping track of friends and organizing events then for PvP HoH matches. but that's just me... Our guild is part of a Larger Gaming Clan that spans many games so we are off playing BF2 and Swat4 on occasion. but we still get together in Tyria when we feel the need. Several of us were avid Beta testers, and have been in the community from early stages. We are trying for the Chapter two beta, but it is not time for that yet... so I feel we will still be here long after these fly by night guilds disband.
Thing is since we are a larger gaming group... officer status is rather hard to attain. just about anyone can be a member in the guild though. Officers are full Clan members that play multi games in our community, and have the added trust of the clan council.
And WoW sucks for more reasons beyond it costing a monthly fee. but I don't want this to get more flame then it already has had. I played both betas, and Preferred GuildWars beyond WoW for so many reasons. I am not going to list the novel... you want to do a propaganda flame war again in support of your precious WoW.. do it, but I would prefer you just go play it and leave us alone.

The community isn't dead. PvP isn't dead, as stated by a TGH thread, and PvE is perfectly fine as is. I liked playing it through, and i'm sure other people do as well.
Things, however, aren't perfect. PvP needs working. PvE needs more content. The community, well.. every game has a bunch of retards.
This, however, doesn't mean that you can say that the game is a total failure and that no one plays it because you and similar minded people have decided to leave. Go play CS/Starcraft/HL/Unreal/Whatever if you're totally bummed at the state of GW: don't go and scare away new players with excessive doomcrying.
Stating problems? Fine. Saying the game is doomed, no one plays, and if they do they're idiots? Maybe Alex was right about saying TGH is a vocal minority...

Chapter 2 won't be out untill next year at that time most of those that bought chapter 1 will have been ascened and done all missions and hopefully have their elites.

true
and hopefully the new content including new professions skills and possibly playable races will be good enough to bring in a whole new group of people.
